Water Sanitation and Hygiene - WASH
Overview
Access to clean drinking water and hygienic sanitation is a fundamental human right, yet millions of rural and tribal families struggle daily against waterborne diseases and unsafe sanitation.
COST TRUST’s WASH Initiative delivers sustainable clean water solutions, builds household and school toilets, and promotes community hygiene education to eliminate preventable illnesses and safeguard vulnerable families.

Key Focus Areas
Safe Drinking Water Infrastructure:
Installing deep borewells, community water purification plants, and rainwater harvesting systems in water-scarce villages.
Household & School Sanitation:
Constructing twin-pit pour-flush toilets in homes and schools to eradicate open defecation and provide privacy and dignity, especially for women and young girls.
Hygiene Awareness & Behaviour Change: Conducting community campaigns on proper handwashing techniques, safe water storage, and waste management practices.
Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM): Distributing bio-degradable sanitary products and conducting awareness sessions in rural schools to break taboos and keep adolescent girls in school.
Community Water Committees:
Training local village leaders and women's self-help groups to maintain and manage water purification units for long-term sustainability.
Our Impact
Clean Water Sources Created: 120+ borewells and water filtration units installed across remote habitations.
Household Toilets Built: 1,200+ family toilets constructed, reducing waterborne illness rates significantly.
School & Village Beneficiaries: 40,000+ children and community members accessing clean water and sanitation facilities daily.
