About us

Who We Are

Founded in 2001, the Community Organisation for Social Transformation Trust (COST Trust) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to driving sustainable development and social equity across South India. Registered under the Indian Trust Act, the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), and statutory tax-exempted charitable provisions of the Government of India, COST Trust works directly at the grassroots level to uplift marginalized populations.

Over the past two decades, our initiatives have expanded across more than 200 tribal, urban and remote villages in South India, establishing COST Trust as a trusted pioneer in comprehensive community development.

GOVERNANCE

COST Trust is consisting of two stage managements are Board of Trustees and Executive Advisory committees.

Board of Trustees is the highest governing body that formulates policies projects planning and implementation. The Executive Committee is responsible for implementing the policies and project managements. All projects are reviewed and supervised by university professionals and staff team

Our Core Focus Project Areas

COST Trust, implement a holistic, community-led model of rural development. By addressing interconnected challenges from healthcare and safe shelter to clean energy and environmental protection, we build resilient, self-sustaining communities across tribal and remote regions of South India.

Bringing life-saving medical care directly to isolated rural communities.

In remote tribal settlements, geographic isolation and lack of transport often prevent families from accessing basic medical attention. COST Trust bridges this critical gap by operating primary healthcare centres and deploying fully equipped Mobile Clinics. Our medical teams deliver doorstep diagnostic care, maternal and child health screenings, chronic disease management, and emergency health referrals directly to underserved villages.

We believe education is the fundamental driver of generational mobility. COST Trust supports rural learning hubs, provides essential educational materials, and offers remedial learning support for children in tribal belts. By creating safe learning environments and scholarship opportunities, we ensure that socio-economic barriers never prevent a child from pursuing their academic potential

Constructing climate-resilient, dignified homes for marginalized populations. Adequate shelter is a fundamental human right and the bedrock of family health and security. We design and construct permanent, structurally sound concrete housing units for families living in extreme vulnerability or disaster-prone areas. Each housing unit incorporates proper sanitation facilities, secure roofing, and durable structural engineering to withstand regional weather extremes.

Empowerment through leadership, nutrition, and economic opportunity.

Our community models prioritize the safety, rights, and advancement of women, children, and youth:

Women's Empowerment: Establishing self-help collectives, micro-enterprise training, and financial literacy workshops to foster economic independence.
Child Welfare: Combating malnutrition through community nutrition drives and ensuring child protection networks are active at the grassroots level.
Youth Leadership: Delivering vocational skill training, digital literacy, and career mentorship to help rural youth secure sustainable livelihoods.

5. Safe Drinking Water Security

Securing clean, contamination-free water for healthier communities.

Waterborne diseases remain a major threat in isolated rural pockets. COST Trust builds decentralized water security infrastructure,including deep-well boreholes, community filtration units, and rainwater harvesting systems. We work closely with local water committees to ensure long-term maintenance, providing safe, reliable drinking water year-round

Powering off-grid homes and essential community centers.

To bridge the energy divide in remote villages lacking consistent electricity, we deploy solar-powered lighting systems and micro-grids. Solar energy powers local health clinics, illuminates community spaces, and provides home lighting, allowing children to study safely after dark while reducing reliance on hazardous kerosene lamps.

6. Solar Energy Infrastructure

Ensuring dignity, comfort, and healthcare for Senior citizens. Elderly individuals in impoverished rural areas often face isolation, health challenges, and economic neglect. COST Trust provides comprehensive senior care through monthly health checkups, nutritional support, mobility aids, and community support circles. We ensure our elders live with dignity, respect, and accessible medical care.

7. Elder Care & Welfare

Promoting compassionate co-existence and livestock health. In farming and tribal communities, domestic animals and working livestock are vital to the local ecosystem and family livelihoods. Our animal welfare initiatives focus on organizing veterinary care camps, anti-rabies vaccination drives, emergency care for working animals, and community education on humane treatment and co-existence.

8. Animal Care & Welfare

Restoring ecosystems and building climate resilience at the grassroots level. Climate change severely impacts rural agriculture and natural habitats. COST Trust leads community-driven ecological initiatives, including large-scale tree plantation drives, soil conservation practices, watershed restoration, and plastic waste management campaigns in sensitive forest fringes and hill ranges.

Promoting green technologies for sustainable rural living. Beyond solar lighting, we advocate for comprehensive clean energy adoption in rural households and agricultural practices. By introducing eco-friendly cookstoves, solar-powered agricultural pumps, and bio-energy models, we help communities reduce carbon emissions, lower fuel costs, and protect regional biodiversity

10. Renewable Energy Adoption

To provide Health care and Health Education to the Rural Tribal and Urban families in India.
To establish and Construct the Charity Hospitals, Schools, Old-Age Homes, Women & Child Welfare Centers for the benefit of needy groups.
To provide educational Sponsorship, Nutritional, moral and Health care support to Poor, Tribal Children, School Dropouts and Street children.
To provide School supplies, stipends, Scholarships, medals and incentives to the Students.
To provide care, education centre and shelter home for Orphan children.
To provide free and low-cost housing for the underprivileged tribal, rural and urban slums poor.
To empower and develop the vulnerable Groups and affected by the victims of poverty.
Rural and Tribal Women empowerment through SHGs Formation, Self-Employment / Skills Trainings, awareness Programs and provide livelihood support to start the Income Generation to improve the socio-economic condition of poor women.
To Provide vocational and Livelihood Trainings to the unemployed, underprivileged youth.
To raise awareness on environmental conservation, climate change, wildlife protection, natural resources management and Communicable and non-communicable diseases.
To empower small farmers through sustainable agriculture, organic farming, agroforestry, watershed management/development, Traditional seed conservation and vermicompost production.
To provide relief and rehabilitation for the victims of Natural calamities.
